The unique unit that far outclasses everyone else, however, is the Battanian Fian Champion. The Battanians are akin to the Celtic tribes of Europe with the fairly average Falxmen leading the charge: Their special units are the heavily-armored (and ridiculously good) Imperial Elite Cataphracts: The faction also has several of the best heavy infantry units (the Legionary, Menavliaton, and Triarii), and great ranged troops (Palatine Guard and Sergeant Crossbowmen). The EmpireĪll three Roman Empire-esque factions (the ones led by Lucon, Garios, and Rhagaea) share similar units.

If you want to compare and contrast the stats of various units, you can view this detailed spreadsheet from r/MountandBlade Redditor Dupa-Ya-Sha. Remember that different factions or cultures also have their own unique units including special types. You can easily check the unit upgrade trees in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord by right-clicking on a unit’s portrait either in your party screen or encyclopedia (N). At its very core is your capability to manage your armies and continue your conquests. Do keep in mind that while you are sieging the enemy can sally forth and attack you if they think they can kick your butt.Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is a massive game. So even if you have a small personal army you can reasonably siege the capital city-sized spots. Also, at some point of your 'lordship' you will probably be appointed Marshall of your kingdom (I am atm) which allows you to gather up lords and their armies and give them tasks, etc. I have 12 CHA atm and my max army size is 110. I rarely lead the charge because when I go down the fight is over. The army size is definitely all about reknown, I wouldn't waste points on CHA. My standard tactic atm is to get a small firing lane and start kiling their archers from left to right or vice versa, when the troops charge, I call the marksmen to follow me, letting the guardsmen begin the killing fields. Sometimes you get the small group combat phase inside the building, but not always. They are death machines and usually slaughter the defenders regardless of the size disparity.Īnd it appears that you don't need to kill/incap all of the defenders (which you have to do in open field), you simply need to defeat a series of waves and if they haven't run out of troops, they get kicked out anyhow. I'm working the Vaegir side of things and when I take castles I usually roll in with a force of guardsmen and marksmen, the two top tier, non-cavalry troops.
